I had the 'read only' contacts issue too but in my case, it was just a simple phone number with no name or other data associated with it. The number was listed about 20 times at the top of my contact list as if it were 20 different contacts. It had just appeared over the last week. Not all Android phones are capable of messaging your contacts directly though, so be sure to look for your phone’s manufacturers details to see if there are any details you’re missing. You can read phone contacts using Content Provider. With the help of this content provider we can communicate with the contacts app and query the URIs and columns to get contact information and it will return as contact name, all contact numbers, all email addresses, company name, etc. Content providers manage access to a structured set of data. Deleting a read only contact If you try to delete such a contact, you will receive a notification that this is impossible, because the contact is existing in many address lists and connected to them. To delete a read-only contact, you need to remove the connection. On your Android smartphone you may have created contacts within the Contacts app that cannot be deleted. They are virtually read-only. If you want to delete such a read-only contact in Android, you have to use the following procedure: Unprotect a contact and delete it.
Hi - I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere in the forum, but I wasn't able to find it by searching.Android Read Only Contact
I'm evaluating Outlook-Android sync using the 30 day trial, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm strongly considering purchasing a full license for myself and for my wife. There is just one nagging issue, and I hope someone can help me out with it.Unhide Read Only Contacts Android
Simply put, I'm not able to edit contacts synced to my Samsung Galaxy S5 by Outlook-Android Sync. When I touch the edit button a screen opens and the data fields are displayed, but I can't do anything in them... and the 'Save' option isn't available (probably because I haven't changed anything.)
Is there a way to make these contacts editable? I do a lot of work 'in the field,' and I need to be able to update my contacts on the phone. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
